...First of all, we want to go to the London Eye but as the weather is foggy we decide to put it off the until next day. Crossing Westminster Bridge we can see Westminster Palace with the Tower Clock and the Big Ben, here are the Houses of Parliament. Opposite the Houses of Parliament is Westminster Abbey, where British Kings have been crowned for hundreds of years.
...We see a group of students wearing suits; my wife takes a photo of them, but a doorman of their school asks her to eliminate it.
In the same zone of Westminster, we can see Westminster Cathedral, the main Catholic church with a huge wide central nave. As a curiosity , in the church basement, there is a bar and toilets for visitors.
Then we go for a walk in St. James's Park, the smallest park in London, there we can see a beautiful lake, a lot of trees, flamingos, geese, ducks and also squirrels. I had never seen a squirrel eating fom the hand of a person.
Not far from here is Buckingham Palace, the official seat of Queen Elisabeth II. A grey building but one of the great symbols of the UK
After lunch, we walk to Trafalgar Square, the London centre with Nelson statue and the National Gallery, smaller than other museums like le Louvre, but it has a magnificent collection of pictures. A guide explains to us three pictures in detail, it allows us to practice listening to English. When we leave the National Gallery, we find a dark evening. In London at half past four the night has just arrived. It is the moment to go to Covent Garden, a lively zone in London where you can find art, fashion shops, restaurants, pubs and a stalls market; besides a commercial gallery and street artists.
The day finishes with dinner in Soho and watching the Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic theatre, near Piccadilly Circus.
